Can I watch the classes?
Parents, visitors, friends and family are encouraged to watch
classes. We only ask that you respect the class by remaining quiet
and that if you are bringing younger children that you keep them
quiet and under control.
Parents: if you are unable to stay and watch classes, we ask that
you drop your children off only a few minutes prior to the class and
pick them up immediately following class. The schools become very
busy around class times and we cannot be responsible for watching
unattended children who are not in class.
Are classes closed on Holidays and Special Events?
The Matt Fiddes Martial arts Schools will be closed on all major
holidays, including the period from Christmas Eve through New
Year's Day. Some classes may be cancelled with prior notice for
special events such as tournaments, seminars, clinics, and instructor
training days. In every case, missed classes can be made up at
the student's discretion either prior to or following the missed or
cancelled class.
Do I need Safety Equipment?
Martial Arts is a contact activity, which means there is a chance that students may injure themselves or others whilst participating.
Here at the Matt Fiddes Martial Arts Schools we take our students safety extremely seriously. This is why we offer a full range of safety equipment at our schools. All Matt Fiddes safety equipment is available through your instructor and is a requirement as you progress though your belt grades.
Once you have achieved orange belt your instructor will offer you a basic package which includes hand and feet protection. Get to your blue belt and you will require full protective equipment to participate in class.
Again we would like to stress that safety is our main concern. So upon enrolment.
Why do we have to pay for lessons over the XMAS and
summer shutdown?
You Don't! Your tuition is calculated over a four-week cycle for 45 weeks a year in
12 equal payments. This allows the school to close for 3 weeks (Summer and Xmas shutdown) and it also leaves 3 weeks worth of lessons that will cover the missed classes for gradings and special events. You do not pay for shutdown periods!
How long will it take to get to Black Belt?
It can take anything from 3 to 5 years to achieve your Black Belt with The Matt Fiddes system. Exams usually take place every two months until you achieve your blue belt, then students will be required to take panel gradings which are every six months.
